Gone with the wind is a movie that takes place in the time of the Civil War from the Confederates point of view. The movie also depicts a much happier south than what would be historically accurate, the slaves in the movie were happy to see their masters and showed them respect and their masters treated them with respect as well which was the most surprising for me. The movie follows a woman by the name of Scarlette and it shows her journey from meeting Butler to her mothers home where she eventually figures out that her mother has passed, she has almost no food or water, and no lover. During her journey the movie depicts the Union/Yankees as a violent group of people who only started the war as an excuse to murder the people of the south and that people from the north are awful when in actuality the Union was the historically good side of the civil war. There were several scenes in which you can see the south burning their ammunition causing large explosions that burn down buildings all so that the Union cannot acquire the goods that are left behind during this war. People from the Confederacy are also looting goods from buildings and several are attempting to hurt and kill other people so that way they can take their wagon and flee as far as they can regardless of who is on board, child or not. This suprised me a decent amount because I would have figured that the Union wouldn't just be killing random civillians unless the civillians were instigating the fight with them via some sort of violence. I stopped watching the movie at the intermission in the middle so I was not able to view what happened after Scarlette swore to get rich somehow.
